ep3 what kind of oil to use, the oil cap says 5w20 but somone told me 5w30


which one do i use, can anyone help, and synthetic or regular oil

 

In your climate, 5W-30 should be OK. The 20 part is mainly for fuel enconomy. Your owner's manual is the best resource for information, and not what "someone" says, including me. Synthetic, conventional, it's up to you as long as the API service grade and weight are what's spec'd for your engine, and the oil is changed as required.

 

im using 10w30 non synthetic mobil 1...im getting very close to the 90K miles mark and im reving higher than stock ..so 10w30 is doing good for me

 

Just keep in mind these are tight tolerance engines. A heavier weight oil is not necessarily better. If the oil can't get to where it's supposed to, it ain't going to do any good.

 

5w20 Mobil 1 full syn. works great where applications call for a 5w20 oil. Trust me, that weight oil will be fine.

Now, if you're running a turbo, SC or a full motor build I'd say go with 5w30, but if not stick with 5w20.
