Default Can a timing belt be too tight?

My timing belt on the b16 seems to be very tight. No play on either side at any point. Can it be too tight?

Indeed. Especially with the high revving B-series. Though i heard rumours that snapping the belt when you're not in VTEC won't ruin the engine...ow well, relatively.

In the Workshop Manual you can find how to adjust the timing belt the right way. I would check it ASAP if i were you...

If the belt is too tight you will know it becuase the timing belt will be very loud under the timing cover

I'm not sure on the DOHC motors but on SOHC you want just under 1" of deflection.
