acutally yes, there are alot of fake kits on ebay. It says 8g but its more like 10g or smaller. It has a fat coating on it and when you strip it the wire is so small. A couple of companies sell the swapmeet kits out here and its really cheap shyt. Stick to tsunami or streetwire or fosgate. They are true wire size. Alot of people use welding wire. There are so many theories to wire to how its wrapped and twisted. Just skipp that and find true wire size
The walmart scosch wiring kit is good. I paid 25 for the one with "4g" in it and it had a 5g power cable, and an 8g ground. I went to home depot and bought a 4g ground and it's all good.

^^^ He is dead on. With the price of copper going through the roof many manufacutures have either:
- raised prices to compensate
- skimped on the wire
- used copper clad aluminumn
There are many choices out there, and wire is not wire so to speak. Stick to a true 8 AWG and you should be fine. A few words of wisdom:
-run the largest gauge wire you can (think future upgrades). If you are doing one amp now but are planning to add a 2nd one later-a 4ga kit with power distrobution would be a great idea.
Also look into these guys if your on a budget. http://www.knukonceptz.com

I agree with just running 4 awg for possible upgrades.
However, I have worked with a number of streetwires kits and they are sub-par. thicker strand wiring, remember signal and power only transfer on the outside of the wire, so a thicker strand wire transfers less current/signal.
Kicker wire is the best I have worked with, very high strand count, extremely flexible and managable.
