What can I do with my head off
I have my head off right now and I'm wondering what can I do to my engine and engine bay, besides a wire tire. i had my head port and polished, having my intake manifold port and polished also, got a hondata gasket, bought oem cap and rotor, spark plugs, bored out my TB, changed the studs on my head, bought all every thing i need to put back on my head. is there some thing else i can do right now while my head is off. oh i did have my valves resitted. WHAT CAN I DO!!! please what else thanks guys this is a 96 jdm itr motor

bored my block not yet, maybe when i want to buy pistons, and rods. i just want to do stuff that needs to be done, i was looking for a 4-1 ITR header but can't find one thats not dented or cheap, money wise i think about $500-600 bucks. but i just want my car to run strong like a champ. going for mmmm do you mean what do i want to do with the car, like auto cross, drag. both i guess i don't drag that much i mean once every 2 months, i more like auto cross because it's more of a balance. but i don't auto cross, i just drive my car and want it to handle good and have some power. i just want more power. i haven't bought a FPR or a rail but i don't think i need those yet. do i? cams i don't want to have to change out my springs, valves and other stuff but i don't know if i want to go turbo or NA. so i'm holding off on stuff like that also i'm waiting until i get a better job and have more money.
$500-600 you can get a rage header and make great power.
you willneed a FPR and rail eventually.
i wouldn't be trying to get all this power out of your car before you learn how to really drive it... I mean your basic IHE setup will grant you more than enough power and fun on the streets. You could make 190whpwith the right combo of that.
Im at 215 (218 max) whp 142 ftlbs and i still can't handle it right man....
dont do what I did, learn to handle it at autox before you get street crazy haha

If you have the cylinder head off already, you might as well go for the whole kit and kaboodle: change out your valve springs and put in some hotter cams.
Plenty of choices out there for a slightly hotter cam. Since you have a '96 engine, you can go the route of a CTR or the 98 spec ITR intake cam (or was it 00-01 USDM?). That gives you a little bit more power. Otherwise you can go find a suitable package from Toda, Spoon, Skunk2, Crower, Blox, Buddy Club, Jun, and the list goes on and on.
Throw in a set of cam gears, Hondata or some other programmable ECU, good I/H/E if you don't already ahve them and it should be plenty peppy.

thanks i going to look for a better intake, header i can't find one cheap, exhaust i just have piping then a muffler 2.5 whole way out.
Why was the head taken off in the first place?
What are you plans with the car? If you plan on "modding" the motor, yes there will be less labor becuase your only removing the head once.
What I'm trying to say is that there is countless things you can do with the head off. Just depends on the funds.
But If I lets say blew a head gasket and needed to replace it. I would upgrade the valve train, port and polish, inspect the block and if all was good put it back on.

ok damn because i all ready had the valve sitted but damn i should have upgraded my vavle train, i'm going to look around and see how they charge to install a new vavle train because they charged my 60 bucks to resurface the head slighty the said it was in good shape, clean (hot tank), resitting the vavles.
I have my head off right now because I am installing the skunk2 pros series 2 cams... to do this, I am also doing new valves, dual springs, titanium retainers, cam seal (skunk2)... oem head gasket, up graded radiator and fans (bc you have to drain them anyway), ARP head studs (might as well)
like the other guy said, the more you get done, the less you take the head off, the better you are
If you don't have you can add...cam gears, thinner head gasket to up compression,
some of the things you were mentioning can come later because you don't need to remove the head for headers and intake, and little bolt ons
