The search function has been down for a while now so I started a new thread.

I just want to know if anyone here uses their stock fuel pump successfully. I'm going to be running 8 psi t3/t4 turbo d setup and I really don't want to replace the fuel pump in my crx.

Anyone do this and have problems running lean etc?

 

A Walbro is cheap. Why chance it? On a friend's car we were able to get to 320whp (I think, not sure of the fuel pressure) before it leaned out at 8000RPM. Next day he got a fuel pump and made 360whp revving to 9100RPM with no problems

 

I forgot to mention I'll be using hondata.

Especially on a car that has been in northern IL its whole life.

You only have to do it once Another reason I would do it. I wouldnt trust that old CRX fuel pump. It has been in there how long? The car I talked about above was a 2000 ITR

I had a simalar experence with my stock fuel pump leaning out on the top end. Changed to a walbro 255lph and problem solved.

With the set up mentioned in the first post I would say that the stock fuel pump would be at its limit. And if it is the stock crx pump it would be pretty old.

 

i used a stock fuel pump in my b18c JRSC CRX with no problems for a year then i switched it out once i went turbo Switching the fuel pump is not hard at all in a crx. Just make sure you run your car almost out of gas. it didnt take long at all

 

I just put a walbro in my DA on jackstands, it's really not a big deal. Just get the car up high enough so you can drop the tank on your belly and roll out on the creeper.

 

how much are those walbro 255s good for???

till i get serious about my build

get a 190 for $80

 

there was a thread about how much power they are good for, ill try and find it. but why not just get a 255, they are like $10 more

 

I have a walbro 255 lph high pressure fuel pump. I paid $109 with the install kit. This is for my integra gsr.

 

im running a stocker on my set up. im not up in the hp range but i herd there good for like mid 200s. im around 200 and i could crank some more in.

 

I dont trust stock fuel pumps over 230whp. Gives the peace of mind. What's $90.00 - $110.00 and a little labor?

 

I was only shooting for 200hp

 

well i think you are gonna make more than 200HP on 8PSI with a T3/T4.

so dont chance it, its not worth it...

or........do chance it and let us know what the breaking point was

walbros are less than $100 and take about 15 minutes to install.....why the hell would you cheap out on something so inexpensive??

You'd have to be pretty cheap and lazy if you decided not to buy a Walbro. It has to be the easiest thing in the whole turbo setup to install and one the cheapest things too....

Breaking point is going to be different from car to car. Every car's wiring, alternator, battery, etc. is going to be different as far as conditions and working order

 

15 minutes to install a fuel pump in a crx. Obviously you have never changed a ful pump in a crx.

It is not to hard but I will take more like 2 hours. If you allow time for some of the pain in the butt thingsthat can go wrong.

I think your stock one should be fine for your d-series. When I posted before I thought you were runnig your t3/t4 on a b-series. What are the specs on the turbo anyways.

My stock pump did fine on by b16 till I put a bigger turbo and ramhorn mani. Then I upgraded to a walbro.
