Just wondering if anyone has seen this before (wastegate placement idea)
I saw this as i was flipping thru ebay looking for deals on turbos.
If you took that hole, and instead of blocking that hole off with your downpipe flange, put a piece of pipe there and ran that to an external wastegate like a TIAL style.
would this not result in faster spool because the whole manifold isnt loosing pressure at once, just the hot side of the turbo ? it maybe would pressurize faster than the manifold type wastgate flange
idk, it was just an idea. wondering if anyone has ever tried this ?
i kinda see what you mean, but i cant forsee it being any better than having a turbo with an internal wastegate.
basicly it would be an internal but external wastegate at least that is what i think
