Opinion on my possible summer project?
Hey I currently own a BMW 328i (E36) which is my daily driver. I thought about modding it and making it fast but I am currently thinking I would be better off building up a Civic or Integra because its cheaper.
Right now I have a 98 Bonneville SE with 120k miles sitting in my garage that is ready to sell for around 2.5k. I have about 1k in the bank (low because I just purchased the BMW not long ago). I just got a substantial pay raise and will be making an average of 1250 per month. And I have no expenses other than car insurance, gas, and food.
I have no experience on working on cars. I want to learn and I figure that if I can read up on these forums and have some help from friends, ect that I can do just about anything with working on a car. I would love to get a stock Honda Civic or Acura Integra and then buy stuff for it, install them, and then have a fast ride, while still owning the BMW for the daily.
What do you guys think? Or should I just turbo my Bimmer and get a Honda daily?

from one of my tech savvy roomates who owned a bimmer is that it's not worth modding unless you have a healthy bank account. Start with a civic or 'teg they're easy as hell to work on and you can learn a lot from them. My biggest advice is to get to be friends with a local honda tech and ask a lot of questions.

I agree with that. Honda would be a very good learner tool for me because of the ease of modding including the low cost. I cant wait until a few months pass by and I will be around 5k again to start looking at a good base car.
if you want a cheap project car look for a 92-93 teg that needs a little work. You can pick one up for 1-2g and they're a perfered OBD1. They also have 4 wheel disc and and a DOHC so much fun. My $.02
