Looking for your opinions on a 98-04 Accord V-6 upgrade?
Would this deal make sense to you... My mom currently drives a 98 EX V-6, it's got 150,000 miles on it, the trans was rebuilt by Honda at 120,000 miles. She has no car payments. She drives mainly in Philadelphia, so a good portion of the miles have been city. The timing belt is good till 220,000 miles. And the tires are in pretty good shape.
She has the opportunity to buy my buddy's 04 Accord EX-v6 with leather. the 04 has 90,000 miles on it. It's in immaculate condition. It's been serviced at the dealer every 3-5K. And I would say that 85% have been highway miles. He wants $11,500.00 for it. It will need tires (still has the originals and the treadware indicators aren't even showing yet) and it will need the timing belt done at 110,000 miles.
Does it make sense to get the 04 that only has 60,000 less miles on it, but is 6 years newer? Or would you just keep with the 98 with no payments and take any repairs as they come along? Just looking for anyone elses input. Thanks in advance.

Keep the old one, if she doesnt have any payments, than she can bank what ever she would be paying instead of putting that into a newer car. like steerh67 said <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by steerh67 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">if it ain't broke...</TD></TR></TABLE>........
Edmunds says dealer trade in with 90,000 miles is worth 14,671. Private party sale is 16,302 and dealer retail is 17,692. When I say mint condition, my buddy has OCD, the car has never had food or drink in it. ALL scheduled maintenance was done by Honda. So does 11,500 really sound like a lot?

Since when did the 04 v6's become the K series?

the newer accords are more reliable than the previous ones but the transmission (automatic) is the same as the 01-03 CL/TL cars and that isn't a good thing.....
