Default 87 dx [idle problem]

i have an automatic and when i stop at a light it seems like its about to stall but if i put the gear in neutral the idle is perfect. and sometimes when i start the car the rpm rises to about 2200-3000rpm but if i step on the gas the rpm drops back to normal. I cant find out why its doing this

Check your IM
I doubt there is anyone on this website that could diagnose a carb problem in person, much less online.
Send a Message to George Knighton, he is positive that he knows everything.

mine did that everytime i started my car up i could hit the gas and it would go back down. Its actaully from what i know a common thing. i never did figure what it was. I figured it was my throttle cable sticking...
