Anyone use Falken Ziex ZE-512 on there Integras
Iam looking to get some Falken on my Teg in a 205/50-15. If any of you have them or used them could you tell me if they were any good. If you have pics post thanks
I use to run the mountains with my dc2 and i used Azenis and raining season started so i switched to Falken Ziex and for street use they were good/smooth ride compared to the Azenis.......and grip wise they were OK. I give it a 3/5 over all.
I have ziex rubber, i'm terribly impressed. at 45 bucks a tire aprox. it's hard to find a better tire. my wet traction is good, my dry traction is phenonimal... but I also haven't been on any super expensive tires yet. I'm planning to get azenis to try those. 4/5 for cost and efficiency.
i have them and i really like them. On my car i ran 205/50/15s and they hooked well. I could break them loose pretty easily but i was making "slightly" more power than a stock GSR
For the price, they're hard to beat

They're not very good at all. First, they're an all-season tire, and even among all-season tires, they're not very good.
All-season tires are "compromise" tires. They aren't as good in winter as just about any winter tire, and they aren't as good the rest of the year as just about any summer tire. If you live in an area where it snows, you're better off finding a separate set of wheels (even steelies) so you can use that set for winter tires, and get summer tires for better performance on your other wheels the rest of the year. (And if you live in an area where it doesn't snow, just get summer tires, which will be better than all-seasons, all the time.)
However, if you MUST get all-season tires for your Integra, get the Kumho Ecsta ASX. Much, much, MUCH better performance than the Ziex, for roughly the same price (the ASX is $64 in 195/55-15, $59 in 205/50-15).

A tire may seem "great", until you change to something better, and then realize that maybe they weren't really as great as they seemed at the time.
To me, a tire is "great" if, within its category (summer, all-season, winter), you can't buy a lot better performance for roughly the same money or less. By that criterion, the Ziex ZE-512 is absolutely not great. Not even close. It's just a cheap, crappy tire. And you can do a lot better for the money.

I'm looking for those tires also, I think their good for the price. Which site quoted you that price 52 shipped and tax? The lowest i got was off direct tire.com for 53/each for 195/50/15's.

i had the ziexs in 205/50/15's...great tread wear, looked real nice, gripped okay in the dry if you push them too hard they'll start slipping even with good tread wear left, as for a dry tire i'd rate them 5/10. The bad...in the wet they suck *** even with good tread left going at 70mph in mild socal rain. They are a good bang for the buck tire, though... if you compare them to kuhmo spts which are great tires all around i'd choose the spts over the ziex's any day....look into the spt's they run for basically the same amount as the ziex's with better performance capbilities.

You can get the Kumho ASX in 205/50-15 for $59 plus shipping from the Tire Rack, or $65 including shipping from Discount Tire, which is only a few bucks more. And it's a MUCH better tire in every way.

No, they're not. It's a crappy tire for a low price. For a few bucks more, you can get the Kumho ASX, which is MUCH better. (There are other all-seasons just as good as the ASX, but they don't come in 15" sizes for Integras.)

195/50-15 is too small for an Integra. Get 195/55-15 or 205/50-15. 195/55-15 is the stock size for many Integra models. 205/50-15 is slightly smaller in diameter and usually a few bucks cheaper. Either size will work.

195/55-15 is fine. 195/50-15 is too small.
And remember, you're getting all-season tires because you are going to use them at least some of the time on snow. And narrower tires are better in snow.

I agree with you, which was my whole point about all-season tires vs summer tires. Summer tires are a much better choice for this reason. And among summer tires, the Kumho SPT offers excellent performance for a very low price.
However, the Kumho SPT is going to suck in snow, like any summer tire. If you need to use the same tires all year round, in snow in the winter as well as in moderate to warm temperatures the rest of the year, then you really ought to get all-season tires (like the Kumho ASX).
People in warm areas (California or the South) can get away with using summer tires like the SPT all year round. And people in areas that experience winter are better off using winter tires (or all-seasons, at least) on a separate set of wheels in winter, so they can still take advantage of the better performance of summer tires the rest of the year.
