well if i were to get a JDM front end.... what kind of material would u guys prefer? fiberglass is hard to maintain isnt it? and steel u can just touch up, is it worth the weight though? ... i dunno~!
Andre, I hear some fiberglass finishes have a wavy touch to it. It would be hard to perfect the surface.
Honestly, I would go for fiberglass. More affordable.

Fiber glass is what im thinking.... but I can imagine how to keep it in good condition... cheaper though... and as for weight i dunno how it goes... probably a good 50 lbs dunno if its worth it...
I would think that fiberglass would be better if you were racing your car: cheaper, lighter weight, easier to get replacements (albeit shoddy). If you do SCCA club racing or similar you are bound to garner a huge dent sooner or later. Plus you get that racing look: misaligned panels, just like real race cars! Forget JDM, I see a new trend coming...race style. Peep in my ill 1 inch body PaNeL Gap! Recognize them smashed bumpers yO!

I would steel over fiberglass ANYDAY.
I'd get metal.. You don't have to worry about asking "is it worth the weight?" because the JDM front end is lighter than the USDM one. METAL ALL THE WAY!
i agree....i have oem metal front....i have seen many fiberglass fronts. the fitment is never perfect and the finished product will always be somewhat wavy. Go for the OEm metal if ur pocket book allows you. Besides fiberglass=frustration. someone opens a heavy door into ur fender and it cracks, somebody backs into ur bumper and it cracks. Fiberglass is flimsy and ull wish u bought the metal after a couple of months. If ur gonna get OEM, get the OEM HID front....then u can be big pimpin like me n 1 Fast R
I don't have the OEM HID front...
Chris - who's pocket book didn't allow him to get both OEM HID and the Spoon goodies, so he got a Philips kit instead hehehe

oops! foot pretty deep in mouth....anyways I love ur Spoon goodies more than my HID
...I'll trade u front ends...j/k

OEM Metal is ideal but being the budget consumer (he sounds like it) fiberglass is the way to go. If the body shop knows what they are doing, Im sure fiberglass can come out just as good as metal.
To get the fiberglass panels to have the finish of oe metal, you will spend more
money fixing all the imperfections such as waviness, and all the pinholes.
Fitment is poor, quality is poor. I got the fiberglass kit before my oem kit
and my bodyshop didnt even want to touch it.
Ha as long we are on this topic I have a question. My crazy friend who has a 95 prelude went to konw if he can get carbon fiber for his front end. To me I'll just get the carbon hood for my ITR because that is going to cost him allot of money. Right guys

Metal is definately the way to go, in my opinion. My brother had a fiberglass hood you could see the hood shaking on high speed runs.

Have him remove all the body panels he wants made in c/f and take it to a place where they make custom c/f body panels. He'll probably have to sell his Prelude to buy the panels though.
Ya that is what I told him. lol
