Default VTEC Engagement Troubles

I searched and found nothing of use for me. Tonight me and my friends were cruising and doing a little messing around cuz its a kind of nice night, and at first nothing was wrong but then after like the second time i got on her, it was like, something was wrong and the VTEC would come on right away once i hit 6k and then it would sort of sputter in and out and be very hesitant at higher RPM's. Im kind of worried because i havent heard of this with any of my friends who have VTEC and this is my first car with it. Its a 96 4 door gsr. The only thing i can think of that may cause this but idk why is i need to change my oil; the Maintenance light is on and my CEL is on, but thats because i need O2 sensors. Someone help me!!!!!!
PLEASE?
Ben

Check the oil level.
How do you know it's going on and off?

I could hear it/feel it, it was jerky and very hesitant.

o man. that happened to me like a couple months back. i was just driving w a couple other locals and when i went to 6k it went on and then went off several times. i thought it was the kid that was in the back seat messing around with the exposed wires since i dont have any interior. but it turns out that it went away the next day and never did it again... so far. im guessing that it was a o2 sensor or something but you should be fine.

I don't understand what would make you just jump and preassume O2 sensor.. ahh just like a $200.00 part just throw it on there and see if it fixes it. Um no, never just throw parts at a car.

As to the original thread poster glad you got the problems fixed due to oil & i'd suggest a tune up maybe.. New NGK plugs, fuel filter, dist cap, rotor button, run some seafoam, maybe fuel injector cleaner.

Personally i'd never put it in the gas tank. I know people do and i also know people put it in the crank case, but i wouldn't reccomend it. I always run it through the brake booster for best results. Glad its running good.

What do you use through the gas? I figured as great as it is, why not try it in the gas once.
