Weird tach problem
My tach needle rolled over to the right side and is stuck there, kind of like its reveresed. When I give the car gas it revs down like from 8krpm to 6500 then it gets stuck there., its like the tachs backwards. Anyone ever had this problem?
This is the stock tach, I just installed new dash/91 cluster into 88 crx. Tach seemed to be working fine at first till the needle just rolled all the way to the right.

if you must replace it get a ukdm its plug and play.
I was going to say the needle can get messed up if its pushed too far, but all you need to do is push it back, but yours was working and then this happened, right. If thats the case I have no idea but you can try removing the cluster, take the plastic cover off and push the needle back to 0. plug it in with the cover off and test it out with the car running( i use hondata to check mine) let it warm up for 10 min and the idle should come down to 800-850 at this time. make sure this is what your tach reads. if its inccorect you can spin the needle whatever way it needs to go(Pull it up to get over the stop at 0) to the point it hits a stop, NOW at this point any more movement will phisicaly move the position of the tach(up/down).to move it down pull it counter clockwise and up over the pin which stops the needle from going below 0 (be gentle). to move it up you need to push it almost all the way around clockwise (dont worry ist OK)
recheck it now, dont worry about messing it up you can simply spin it back If you move it too far
I found this out when i messed mine up
