type-r VS 02'mustang GT
how will R which is stock against a Mustang GT My friend just got a GT I was wondering how I will do from a standing launch with it. know it has like 260 horses.
type-r 00'360

Stock vs. stock with equal drivers: If the GT is a convertable or an automatic, the Type R will win. If the GT is a manual, the Type R will lose. If you consider braking and handling in accordance with acceleration (this would be a real race, not a speed shifting contest like you are proposing), the GT will lose no matter what. Take him to an autox or road course and own him.
If it is a manual coupe, I'm almost positive they run mid 14's, whereas the ITR runs high 14's.
Just like it was said above, if it's an auto or convertible, you will most likely own him.

Definately take him to an AutoX and own him there.

A friend of mine has a 01 SVT cobra mustang and I raced him in my ITR when I had untuned Toda A spec cams and it was really close. We dragged and I lost
We did a rolling start out of 2nd and it was dead even, and we went out of 3rd gear and it was very close. I now have Jun3's and think I could take him, or be really, really close.
To answer your question, if you are stock I think you'll lose, unless you're one of the lucky ITR's that put like 170+ to the wheels stock. Go race him, have a good time and be safe.

Those GT's are quick. The SVT's are sick, And the new Cobra with 390 HP is gonna make me **** in my pants when i see it. Props to ford for having the cojones to go after the Z06. Now about ur friends GT, he will own j00 off the line and the 1/4. Even a twisty road course its gonna be close (as we found out from the SCC article with the GT vs R). Race him, but expect to lose.

I know for a fact that there are guys on this board that could out drive the SCC editorial staff and their GT.
stock for stock, it will be very close. Ive raced my friends 02 GT before, and he would creep away from me, but not smoke me like I was standing still. Even if you get your best launch possible, I dont think the R has enough power to reel the GT in. now, previous generation GT's, dont be scared of them
Also, I find it hard to believe anyone in a relatively stock ITR was even close to an SVT Mustang, those things are ****** quick!! I found out the hard way haha
