I keep making threads because my car is stuck in the ghetto and will not start, I am broke and dont have money for a tow truck. I replaced the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor and still wont start back up.

when it first died, it had been sputtering and jumping like I released the clutch to hard, but it happened all the time, and it had a rev limit at 3400rpm. the engine cranks over and I hear the fuel pump prime. any other possible things to check to get it running correctly?

ps-if I floored it, it wouldnt go anywhere for about 3 seconds, then it would jump really hard and barely even move.

stupid question. my gas guage was at E but the gas light didnt come on, would a car hop around if it was almost empty on fuel and how low below the E on empty can it go before it runs out?

i dont think EF have gas lights..i know my 88 doesnt

 

my 91 has a gas light.
are you getting any spark? if so.i would move into timing next..make sure your timing didnt jump. besides that i would check your ground wires especially the transmission one.

 

check the rotor in the dizzy it might have fallen off, or the igniter in the dizzy goes bad, I have had 2 fail on me.

 

US cars dont have a gas light as far as I know, maybe the 4 door with all the options like power windows might but I have never seen a hatch or crx with one

Are you out of gas? The symptoms you're describing are of a car that ran out of gas.

 

no it happened at a quarter tank of gas, or at least thats what my gas guage said. I dont know, I got it to start up after I replaced the plugs/wires, but now it seems like my alternator belt is loose because it makes a terrible screaching noise right after its started up.
