Installing a Kicker sub to my '05 Type-S wiring question.
First off, I'm keeping the stock Bose head unit. Where is the Bose amp? Is the Bose amp a good place to splice in R/F wires? Where is a good place to feed the 4 gauge power wire I have through?
I have a 1200 watt amp. I was going to run the power wire on the driver side and find a hole somewhere in the firewall. On the passenger side I was going to run the r/f and r.e.m. wires. The reason for me wanting to splice it in is because I thought that might be the best area for the r/f wires since the stock head unit doesn't have r/f plugs or does it?

put it this way... the stock bose that comes with the type s is no good and is not upgradeable...i suggest you go with a completely new setup...like that say..."go big or go home"....just my thought...

I think there's a miss understanding. You don't get what I'm saying. I have a KICKER SOLABERIC 12", Sony Pro 1100 watt mono amp and 4 gage wires. I need a place to splice in the R/F wires for the left and right sound. On my past car I cut into the left and right rear speakers. I figured it be cleaner and better to do it in the passenger amp since I probably has a left and right hook up fot the small stock sub to hit right. I don't want to remove anything nor take power from anything I just want to transmit the sound to my kicker.

i would eliminate the rear speakers and have their speaker wires (from the bose amp) connected to ur new amp for the sub's signal coz i don't know what kind of signal the bose delievers to the stock sub. just my 2C.
sorry i misread ur msg, there's no way u can connect the headunit to ur amp if ur amp takes RCA signals only. Unless u use something like speaker power to RCA signal converter.
You get your signal wire from the bose amp that holds down your spare tire, and not the one under your passenger seat.. You have to take that amp apart to get to those wires. I believe the wires are red and green. There are 2 of wires of each color, so 2 red and 2 green wires. So just hook up you line converter to those wires. You can also catch accessory back there for your remote turn. You can run your 4 gauge wire through the grommet behind the glove box.
you can do it a couple of ways. from the amp under the pasenger seat or from the rear speakers and you dont have eliminate them. as far as the power cable goes i had to drill a hole through the fire wall its really easy. if you have any questions email me or pm me i have 5 years of install experience.
I have a speaker signal converter. So, I could plug the remote turn on and the converter right into the Bose sub by splicing into those wires?. I really don't want to drill throught the firewall if I don't have to, so to get to the gromit behind the glove box do I have to pull anything apart or can I just stick my hand back there and guide it through? Thanks for the info guys; huge help!`
SUPA LAO helped me out a lot. H esnt a pic of the Bose sub. The wires circled can be used for the line converter(red + and green -). and the orange for rmote turn on. Thanks man.
I have two kicker cvr's and i just used the actual plug where that plugs in to the sub to do the signal converter/remote hook up... the only problem is that i'm not getting a loud enough signal... so i usually have to alter the eq's on my cd's when i burn them to get a good amount of bass... and thats with the gain max'd out on the amp... ::blech::
i'm going to try something else here... now that i know where the amp is located. (i didnt really look for it before.)

I haven't got a chance to put it in yet. I'm waiting for my Type-R Boot to come in. Once the boot comes in I'm going to swap that and the shift **** for the type-r and install my kicker, but I'll let you know how it all went. One question though, if i mix up the wires for the converter will it blow something or will it not pick up the signal, stupid question since I printed out everything you told me? Thanks man.

You won't blow anything. If you mix up the wires on the converter, the sub will be out of phase compare to the rest of the interior speakers in the car. So it might sound softer.
