Default Engine Bogs after running through water!

Today my accord went through the biggest puddle ever.. and my car took in water through the cold air intake.. at first it was fine.. then a few mins later the engine bogged really bad and had no power.. pulled over checked the air filter.. it was wet... let it sit.. started it and it drove fine.. made it like 8 minute drive home although the CEL came on , on the way home.. I just went inside and ate a huge bag of chips cause i was depressed.. then 2 hours later went back outside started the car and the CEL was gone so i couldnt find out what it was.. drove the car to get the wet oil dumped and it bogged randomally.. got new oil.. still same problem.. it clearly feels like the compression is ****.. and bogs a lot.. so I am thinking I need a new engine then!

expletive my life.. going to Mcdonalds to order the super depression meal..

Sorry for your problems, but are you just posting to tell your story or is there a point to this thread?

do you have a cold air or short ram? And do you have a bypass valve?

You might not need a new engine =P, i dunno i would open it up and see whats up with it, maybe its just a bent piston or whatnot.. or you can't think of it as a time to upgrade? haha goodluck

i think hes also looking for answers to possibly what can be wrong with his engine.

maybe there is still water trapped somewhere in your engine and its sucking it up slowly causing the random bogs. if it was a bent rod or something im sure it would run alot shittier.

try that spark plug trick someone mentioned...dry your filter....and run your car again and see what happens. and if you have a comp. test guage check your comp.

hydrolock is the engine is locked and not moving. his is still running.

and i've driven thru puddles that went up the doors before. you just gotta make sure no water gets up by the intake

Sorry i will clearify this for people;

I have a short ram intake...

The car still idles the same..

Also there is no lifter noise or anything..

I just get random bogs now and the motor seems to lack power..

could i just have fouled the plugs?

This puddle was like one of those puddles that you knew something bad was going to happen before you went through it.. but i am dumb and went through anyways..

I cant travel all of 5kms without a bog..

well, I guess your right, though I don't get why people would refer to it that way.

haha, because they usually don't know the name of it, or just call it by a generic name.

to the op, check your plugs, wires, and maybe distributor. but im pretty sure if you were miss firing you'd get a CEL. But if i were you, i'd try to pull the cel that was on before, the computer stores them until you clear them

you have a shortram intake???? then your whole front end must have been underwater if you sucked in water when you have a short Ram intake....

not neccesarily. i have a stock intake and i removed my resonator once just for the expletive of it and i went through a big puddle and it sucked in water. not alot but enough for the engine to bog for the next 2-3 miles. after that it was fine though, and i put my resonator back on.

ok I changed the plugs (gapped them to spec) opened the distributor cap to check for water or moisture.. there was none.. did the comp test.. it was good.. and the car still has a noticible lack of power from yesterday.. and it did bog too.. I could feel it starting to bog and i had it in second gear floored doing 40mph and it would not accelerate.. the exhuast back fired, so i let off the gas turned the car off while it was moving turned it back on and it was fine (still less power but no bogging) any other ideas?

Ok the code came up again today..

its an o2 sensor code..

Now I am 100% sure that the problem is either an o2 sensor.. and or my MAP sensor (I am assuming the MAP sensor is the same as a MAF.. can someone confirm this?)

Also does anyone know where the map sensor is located on my 1991 honda accord EX 4dr.. Also does anyone have a link to a picture of one?

I'm going to take a stab and say your O2 sensor became either submerged or at some point seriously douched in the water, and it has clogged, or otherwise degraded the vents on the sensor, which would be a direct cause for the bogging and impaired performance that you described.

Run-on sentence FTMFW!!

Running on a dead sensor ABSOLUTELY SUCKS. Replace that sensor! Should be only one, located on the exhaust, below the collector on the front of the engine. Go for that first. If the problem still exists, we'll take a look at the MAP sensor.
