question about distributor/timing
it ur looking at the distributor (adjustable) so the cap is facing u and the wires are comming out. if u rotate the distributor clockwise does that make it rich or lean?
nobody wants ur smart *** comment. it was a simply quetion. i wanted to know what the roation of the distributor would do and which way you roate it and what happens. so dont post in here again if your not going to answer

Why do people say "DON'T POST HERE AGAIN!" Like you're actually gonna stop me from posting here lol
Anyway, if you move the dizzy towards the firewall it advances timing, away; retards.

Hey hey no one heres retarded, there just not knowing things, play nice

Timing light is the best way to do it, but you can sometimes adjust it by sound of the valves if you dont have a load exhaust.
Like ill adjust it hit the throttle for a sec listen for pinging, and throttle response and go by that. But that depends on what gas you have.
Like lets say to adjust it with 92 octane, and when you run regular it might ping

Thats still too risky in my opinion. Even a slight tap can change timing a good amount.

thank you. just saying be a little mature if someones asking a question instead of making a comment that wont do anyone good.

uh...skoundrel was actually helping you guys and not calling you guys retards...sheesh...read it better next time...he is stating that if you move the dizzy towards the firewall, you are advancing the timing. if you were to move the dizzy towards the front of the car/towards yourself, you are retarding the timing...sheesh...
so
towards firewall=advancing
towards you=retarding
sheesh...IDIOTS!!

Wow, way too many harsh posts here.
Turning the distributor doesn't control the air/fuel - that's controlled by the air fuel screw if you want to adjust that.
Turning the distributor advances or retards the timing.
Like has been said - when looking at the distributor, clockwise retards the timing as counter clockwise advances it. Timing is only the spark in relevance to top dead center. Most people adjust the fuel via the fuel tables with Crome or Hondata or something to that effect on a programmable ECU. Though I'm 99% sure there's an air/fuel adjustment screw on the throttle body. Not positive though.
EDIT:
Using a computer and a chip burner or Hondata would be the best way to adjust the air/fuel ratio. That with a WIDEBAND O2 sensor. As for dizzy tuning, with a coil pack that can be controlled by the computer - but as 5th and 6th g hondas have standard dizzys it's just turning it. Some people on strong natural aspiration like it to fire before top dead center - others don't. Some people have equations for advancing the dizzy for nitrous - like Xº per Y shot up until Z shot where it's Qº per W shot or something to the effect of that.
- Hope that helps.
If you don't mind me asking, why are you messing with it? Something not running right?
If you have an A/F gauge hooked up to your stock O2 sensor and it says its running rich don't listen to it - the stock O2 sensor can only read extremes such as "very rich", "rich", "normal", "lean", "very lean" - it's not accurate for tuning so don't try to hit a 13.0 or a 13.2 if ur all motor or something with the stock O2 sensor.

No, somebody (think it was schardbody) told me there was a air/fuel screw on the IM or TB.
I never seen it nor turned it - though I wasn't talking about the idle screw.
EDIT:
I just looked it up in helms and couldn't find it on the throttle body diagram. One of the smart people on H-T was telling me about it awhile back
. I know they're there on carbs but I thought the a/f was completely controlled by the ECU on FI - not a screw - though like I said, one of the smart pple on H-T was telling me about the A/F screw - not to get it mixed up with the idle screw when adjusting the idle.
Blah, sorry I can't elaborate, I can't recall exactly what he said. I only remember that it was one of the smart pple here on H-T and they were telling me not to get it confused w/ the idle screw when adjusting the idle. Sorry

Don't waste your time.
I looked it up in helms and it didn't mention anything about it in the TB diagram - it would have if it existed - iono what the hell he was talking about.
