What should i pay for LS\vtec?
I was just wondering what you guys thought i should pay to have LS/vtec done. I have all the parts to do it and am going to have a guy in town build it all up but was just wondering like how many hours it should be around for the whole build wiring and everything as long as it all goes pretty smooth?
You will pay what a person charges. If you find out it takes 5hrs and the guy is going to charge you 8hrs... good luck going to him and saying "You'll do it for 5hrs and that's it". He'll tell you to go take a hike.
Your best option is to shop around and find the best price vs knowledge for the job in your area and go with the one you feel most comfortable with.

I can understand that it's your money and your choice. On the other hand, if it were me, I would not have paid that much money just to have a LS-VTEC motor? Also, if LS-VTEC motors are that good all Type-R's would have come equipped with LS-VTEC motors from the factory. Personally, I preferred original VTEC motors because it has been engineered and tested the manufacture.

I asked how much you thought it would cost i didnt ask your opinion on what you prefer, so i take it you've had a LS/vtec motor then seeing how the way you are talking WOW you must have had a Type R also if you can compare them.

You're dumb.
Don't listen to this guy. I got quoted around $1k including parts and labor, I think that included tuning as well.

LS/VTECS are reliable , but i when i went to MMI (motorcyle mechanics institute) which is the top school in the country for motorcycle mechanics, a representive from Honda motors america came to the school , and he told how honda decides if they are going to mass produce a motor or not is they build it , run it for 100 hrs at redline , and if it doesnt blow up they build it. Im not sure if they do the same for cars but on bikes they do that. I always found that amazing , that speaks of honda quality.

so its around 1k is what its sounding like. I dont have the head or anything but i do have the ls bottom end obviously. So would it still be around 1k and from where
I remember someone charging $800 for labor, but make sure you get someone who has done it alot and check out the cars they have done it on. ALOT of people do it wrong. Also its not that reliable if you use stock Ls pistons, the reliable ones are the ones with forged internals and next in line are the ones that have gsr/itr internals. Remember ls block doesnt have oil squirters, so if you get forged internals (which dont need the squirters) you wont have over heating problems.
well the guy that told me he would do it, in australia.. told me that i would need to also get some bracket placed on the block.. it makes the block stronger..
crank girdle.. meh what ever that is.. but he said i need it lol.

you pay to build a motor because you dont know what you r doin... duh! lol j/j if you dont ko=now how to build a motor dont try its gonna be a big disaster sent the block and parts to me ill charge you 850 to assemble a complete block!
