Poor gas mileage 2007 Accord EX
I bought my Accord in October and the MPG I get seems to decrease! Right now I'm getting approximately 17 - 18 MPG. This is crazy. I don't even get 300 miles on a tank of gas!!! I dont' drive like a maniac, or have a lead foot. My commute consists of some highway and local back roads. In comparison I get around 20 - 22 MPG from my '96 Maxima under the same driving conditions and routes.
I mentioned this to the sales guy early on during one of his follow up calls and he claimed the MPG would increase after about 1800 miles. NOT!!! I've got over 2300 miles on it now and it's no better. I can't believe running the heater would cause this kind of drop off in fuel efficiency. It's too cold to have the windows or sunroof open. Checked for dead hookers in the trunk, none present.
The car has been to the service center once and inspected for rattling sound, which was from a miscellaneous screw rolling around somewhere on the chassis. Apparently it left the factory with that. Any suggestions?

i have a little older v-6 and i get like 16 miles to the gallon and i dont drive like a moron, and i dont get stuck in too much traffic. i do use the STS fuel additive every few fillups and it does help, gives me about 5 MPG more. Engine might need some more time though. My suggestion: wait it out or just buy a little fuel additive for $1.00. Hope it helps.
thats quite odd my 2006 accord (4cyl coupe) i got back in nov 2005 gets extremely good gas mileage considering i rip it pretty often (almost light to light
i have mostly a highway/freeway commute to everywhere i go. unless im already there.
my car's gotten 440+ (444 when it died) on a full tank doin 80-100mph no AC/windows up, on ALL highway.
streets/highway i can usually pull atleast 330 out of a full but i never fill it up all the way... too close to the border, if my honda got jacked it would be in TJ in 20 minutes.
everycar looses MPG with age... but if u havent gone over 3k miles yet then theres a big problem with ur car (example my dads oddesy got decent gas milage until i filled it up with some crap gas from some middle of nowhere refill station in cali. i think the mph dropped atleast 10mpg over the next year, and its still terrible....
oh and btw my car has 39k
miles since i got this car... QQttm

your not alone, my 03 v6, has been drinking fuel since about 2-3 months ago...
milage went from about 300 to the tank, to 160-180 to the tank!!!!
im waiting for the weather to break a bit to check the plugs!
my 93 accord has also been doing the same thing btw, for the last 4 fill ups!
what the f*ck is going on!

Hmm interesting, i get 500km to the tank about 310miles to a full tank in city...could it be the stations are watering down their gas? or something to that effect? i know atm were having a freaking gas shortage here in ontario becuase one of the refinaries caught fire. damn gas pricese going over $1.00/Litre. bAHHHH anyways could be that? watery down gas? think its called the IAB? it clogged maybe? airfilters plugs wires? ehhhh i dunno. mine still gettting GREAT milage i run a CB7 (1990 Accord) F22A
i'm not alone! I used to get 300 miles per tank and I was HAPPY! now that it's winter I'm getting 240 per tank and it's a 2004 4 cylinder and I don't drive like a jerk. My commute is a combo of highway/stop and go. I brought it in for service and the advisor says that it's because it's winter. so if summer rolls by and I'm still getting 240 a tank then I don't know...
I get a rattling sound on the left side too but only if I'm going 70mph+ It almost sounds like the fender is loose!

my guess would be that its the winterized gas. its oxygenated so it disperses better. that would cause more fuel to spray out when the injector opens. also, our cars also have an intake air temp sensor. if the air is colder, it tell the computer to spray more fuel. colder = richer!!

this is absolutly right. the additives that you'd put into ur tank eat away at the varnish on the windings in the fuel injectors. use enough and over time the injector resistance gets screwed and they can leak, or worse, short open. then you'll have a constant fuel spray...
