Default Edelbrock header fitment problems?

So I recently picked up from Summit as did a bunch of others on here a set of the Edelbrock 2 piece headers in satin stainless. The part number I purchased is 6792. It is listed for 92-95 d series. I have a '88 CRX with stock cat and when installed the header lightly hits the front radiator support / cross memeber. It touches in two sports and I believe it is making the flange where the two pieces join not sit paralell with each other. I have a small exhaust leak there and the three bolts are torqued. Also it seems like the rear flange that bolts up to the cat seems to be rotated about 2-3 degrees off making it a bear to run the stock spring bolts though. Now I am a bus mechanic for a school district so I am not by any means a novic mechanic but I am just trying to see if these headers have common problems or if i some how got a junk set. Thanks for any input available. Pics would be nice if you can see the cross memeber clearance too.
I will post pics of mine tomorrow evening after work.

It should work with no problems. I have never heard of that issue.

I just notched mine yesterday to fix the slight fit issue. Nothing serious just about a 1/4 out of the crossmember to remove the rubbing issue.

Thats good to know that others have had the same. I too will be notching out the cross memeber some time this weekend, it looks as if I will only need to lose about 1/8th inch but I'm going to go ahead and take about 3/8ths off so the engine has some room to move.

All Edelbrock headers are 2", if you search you can make them 2.5" easily and then they make good power.
