Default Yummy Yummy Turbo!

Okay...I have an idea in mind of what I'm going for with my car build. I have a D15B on hand and this is what I want to do with it...

Build the bottom end up completely plus a few other goodies..I'm talking:

-Forged Pistons
-H-beam rods (Crower or Eagle)
-all new bearings
-MAYBE sleeved
-blockguard
-race-oriented exhaust
-ported head + throttle body
-tuned with Crome or Hondata ROM Editor

Here's the best part: T4 Turbo!!!

My main question is this: Will the motor survive at 15-25psi? Now, BEFORE you say "25psi!??? ON A D-SERIES MOTOR? HAHAHAHAHA" I plan on having everything *especially* the block and rods cryo-tempered for extra strength. So, with that being said, will it survive? What kind of HP could I expect with a setup like that? Any idea of 1/4 times?

First of all it seems that you need to do some more research about turbocharging a honda.
Second, there is no way to determine your horsepower with the very little info that you gave.

i'm wondering what the reason is for you trying to build and boost a d15. seems like you've got some money so why not spend it a bit more wisely? plus, trying to spool a T4 turbine with a d15? my best advise is either dump that motor and start with a better platform or spray as much nitrous in the current one.

The T4 I am looking to buy DOES have ball bearings...And I understand that a T4 would be kinda difficult to spool with a 1.5l. So would a T3 be sufficient enough? Or do I need to go smaller?

When I started building FI Hondas, I did alot of research to find out what would REALLY work, not have someone else hold my hand for me.

I see allot of these threads on H-T, it just shows how lazy people are. Sorry if this offends you, but I think you need to hear it.

If you want to rev to 9K and spool by 7, go with a BB T4.

T3s spool fine, and most T3/T4 hybrids spool ok. Anything bigger than a 60-1 will take well past 6K to full spool.

You all do NOT have to be asses, just answer the questions. The whole purpose of Honda-Tech is to share information and EDUCATE. Also this is supposed to be a place for people on a budget, I can't afford to try 30 different turbines, nor do I have anyone within 50 miles that can help me with this, so I turn to you guys. In other words, if you don't have a helpful reply to post, then dont post anything at all.

your talking about a budget and than sleeving and t4bb?

first of all what is your goal for power? are you trying to make a statement and make super power with a D. even if you do know one is gonna jock your nuts for it. your best bet is to do a lot of reading. and than throw the whole D idea away and get something with 2 cams.

What would be the point of spending $1000+ on a B16 or larger, and THEN throwing even MORE money on top of that to build it up, when you could use what you currently have as a platform to build on?

Because you'll have to spend over $2000 just to get the D15B to where the B16 or B18 is stock insofar as power production capacity is concerned. The ceiling for power on the D15B is also MUCH lower than it is for any of the others.

You're obviously new at this, so I won't be mean to you, but seriously: do a lot more research and give us a budget and a power or E.T. goal before you shoot your mouth off about your dream-setup.

Listen to these people, for once they arent flamming. They are trying to help. Learn Learn and Learn more. Much more to making reliable power than just slapping a turbo on. Goodluck

yea your right.

the D would be cheaper to make fast.

you should spread the word so all those silly people dont by a b16 or b18 and just spend a few bucks on d15's.
