head unit wiring problem in a 95 civic sedan

Default head unit wiring problem in a 95 civic sedan

i just installed my 2006 alpine cda-9857 head unit into my civic and it will not tunr on, there is a red with black stripe wire from the civic's harness that was left over, does anyone know what this wire might be? and what may be the problem? all fuses are good and the unit is brand new

i used the installdr.com site wiring diagram, no where on it does it say what the red with black stripe wire is meng

red/black is for dimmer (at least usually)
it certainly isnt going to solve your problem

you either have it wired incorrectly or you have a fuse blown (despite what you say)

Get a tester and hook it up to the wires each one individually, turn the key on and off and to accessory and make sure you have the wires right, check your fuses, relays, and see if you have any wires that are pinched and are grounding prematurely. I just typed the same thing in another post for some other dude w/ the same prob...u guys need to check out other posts...

the ***** gay, if i put the factory unit back in it works, but when ever i install a head unit according to the diagrams, they wont power up,the fuses are good, all the wires are correct so idk if it's just the unit, i think i'll just take it back and see if i can get a different one
