Default How to DROP compression?

I have an F22a1. Blew stuff up and am needing new. I bought 8.2:1 Arias Forged Pistons with 1mm over stock Bore. I am having Trouble finding any good Forged Rods for F22A1 or H23A1 That aren't $750-$900. I've noticed Several Forged rods for H22's that are only like $250 but I will raise my compression back up. I am Trying to keep my compression low and still being using forged parts so I dont mess things up again. This is my first Turbo Project so most will think I'm just a dumba**. SOrry If you think that. I should be running 10 PSI to start with and increasing after I get everything Broken in. Does anyone have any idea what to do? My Options seem to be:

1: Stick With Stock rods and Pray for the best.
8.2:1

2: Get 2million dollar rods and shut the hell up, getting it done ten years later
8.2:1

3: get some H22 forged rods for around $200.
More than 8.2:1

Or are there any more Options? SOrry if this is already answered somewhere But I looked a few times with different searches and ound nothing about DROPPING compression.

upping your compression wont hurt anything tho......your pretty damn low as it is.

8.2:1 is plenty low already. Most guys usually run somewhere around 9:1 compression IIRC.

If I were you I'd sell those pistons, and get one with a custom compression height thats made for h22 rods with an h23/f22 crank

Using an h22 rod with what you have now will get you good compression numbers on paper, but in reality your piston/valve clearance and piston/head clearance are going to be too tight. your piston would stick out of the hole ~.06"

there are other cheap forged rods out there for the H23, but I wouldn't reccomend boosting with any of them over 10psi. these would be rods from either probe or IB which might even come from the same place. i just picked up the IB rods the other day and I'm even a little leary to use them in my N/A motor, we'll just have to see what happens.

The Pistons aren't even here yet! lol I completely undersand what you're saying though Rosko. I'f I get some Decent forged H23 Rods, Do yu think I'd be safe running 10psi. I only drive this car once a week for about an hour or two. And to local car shows. I was mostly doing the ricer thing and wanted the sound but I got into lol. turned things up and the ringlands didnt hold up. I dont have a clue how stong the stock rods are though. Thanks for all the input though..

I'd go with the more expensive rod myself, just think of it as insurance.

If you boost on a stock rod, or push the limits of a cheap rod think of what can happen when that rod lets loose... you'd be out that set of rods and probably the block and crank too. where does the piston go when a rod breaks? straight into the head. for a few extra hundred dollars its just not worth the risk.

I reccomend the pauters myself for around $700, I had them at one time and then sold them when I decided to stick with N/A nicest rods I'v seen though . plus is 10 psi really gonna satisfy you? you know you're just gonna want to turn it up more haha.

True True,I wish it weren't true But i guess we both know I wont be happy with 10.. I only 700 to spend for a Higher capacity clutch. Getting Bored over and hot tanked and getting rods and bearings and getting my Manifold Chromed. I dont think that will cover it lol. Thanks for all the info though. I guess I'll get those rods and Wait for the rest of the money to come in to get the remaining stuff. I sincerely appreciate your information. Good stuff man. Might you happen to have a link for these Rods? if not dont worry, I'll start looking for them tomorrow. I'm about to fall over as it is. Thanks..

well I can't seem to find them that cheap anymore, looks like they've gone up a bit. LaskeyRacing.com has them for $750 though

Thanks again man. Hey I was just curious. I just so happen to have an H23a1 Crank laying around. DO you think Dropping that in with the new pistons is going to help.?. I thought I had everything figured out but I'm not so sure now. I have a fairly small turbo right now so I'm not too worried about revs, as it will spool at like 2200rpm. I figured the extra couple mm's would make it almost like a stroker kit. I dont know if that will help my turbo setup or hurt my setup. That should raise my compression but i dont know how much yet.

get the H22 rods, and then try and off set the compression gain with a thicker head gasket. Most people run 9:1 comp, some run 10:1 so you would be ok

probe/crower/eagle all make h23/f22 rods

Is it just me, or do rods not affect compression ratio... i mean shouldnt they all be the same length for the engine..?? Or are you putting shorter rods than needed in your engine? what the hell happens to your compression height, that probably makes one hell of a ridge, no ?

you're right, but putting a longer rod where its not supposed to go will affect compression ratio. and yes your compression height will be too tall then and the piston will stick out.
