vtec.cold.no engage.
one thing i never knew was that vtec wont engage when the engine is cold. i usually let my car warm up 2 minutes before i take off which is usually long enough so you wont mess up the motor. vtec usually waits until the temp is about on 1/4 of the way on the guage.
at first i thought my soelinoid was messed up but i figured out it was just a cold motor.
my question : i have obd2 and im gonna go to obd1; does obdi have that safety feature as well?

thats because when the ecu reads cool enough ECT (engine coolant temperature) it will know the engine is cold and will not let it engage. Vtec while the motor is still warming up isnt doing anything good for its health.
yeah i usually never hit vtec at all in my car....
2 tickets in 7 days about 2 weeks ago lol. and i got them when i was driving my uncles 350z. those cars are a piece of **** for close to 40 grand. id pick my lude any day over a 350z.
back to topic, so today i just took off fast and went to go to btec and it wasnt there. about a minute later it was warm enough.
im glad my ecu is smarter than i am

I've got a jdm h22a and it won't engage when cold, I only tried it once right after I got in engine in. I would never rev it like that when it's cold now, I baby it always. Dip into VTEC maybe twice a week at most. I'm way off subject now. But who really cares.

That reminds me of my high school days. I tried hitting 'tec one time in front of a bunch of idiots as I was leaving afterschool and the ol rev limiter hit in....man did I feel stupid....LOL

If you had a oil pressure gauge, or oil temp gauge you wouldn't try and dog your car at all for a while. Anything above 1/2 throttle, even after the car has been running for 5min, will still peg my oil pressure gauge at 80psi where the pressure relief for the oil pump is.
Let the car warm up before you beat on it people, damn.
Although you don't need to let the car warm up long before you drive it you should be easy on it for the first few miles before beating on it.

so if you take the squ root of cos30 (1.5) then multiply it by the derivative of sine's complementary angle, you'll see that you have to wait for the needle to be off C for vtec to engage.

for a stock motor its about 8 minutes of normal driving (3k shift points) I add another 8 minutes to get the oil to the same point before I cane the *** off it. If your beating on a cold engine, don;t complain on here when you seize that ****
i never beat on a cold motor. i drive pretty easy until it gets about 3rd of the way on the temp guage like i said. ive only tried hitting vtec when letting the car only warm up for 2 minutes like once. trust me i baby the **** outta my motor. nothing but the best for it.
