Default changing timing belt???

i own a 1990 accord dx automatic. i have 97k on my baby. i hear i'm up for a timing belt change.

is changing the timing belt something that could be done by just about anyone?

becuase honestly speaking i don't know my way around my engine bay, and i would'nt know where to start...

but i am willing to do this myself becuase i hear it could cost me about $600 if i go to the stealership!!!!1

yes, you can do it yourself. I would recommend a Helm manual though, they are a bit expensive but well worth it. They pretty much pay for itself in the money you save by doing the timing belt yourself.

Also, I'm working on a timing belt write-up right now. It's on a F22B1 but it should give you a good idea of what you need to do. The motor in your Accord is very similar.

check your IM For info;
Here is the 'standard' shopping list I have for going into the parts dept.
The only thing not listed is the balance shaft seal retainer.

No shouldn't take that long at all. If you have the tools it should only take about 5 if you have never done this before. You might want to go on ebay and get the tool to take off the crank pully bolt. Air compressor sometimes dosent cut it.
