Default 4th Gen K series swap

K24A1- 2002-2006 Honda CR-V
Power: 160 hp (119 kW) @ 6000 rpm
Torque: 162 ft·lbf (220 N·m) @ 3600 rpm

K24A204-06 TSX
Power: 205 hp (149 kW) @ 6800 rpm
Torque: 166 ft·lbf (225 N·m) @ 4500 rpm

K24A4 -2003-2005 Honda Accord, 2003-2006 Honda Element
Power: 160 hp (119 kW) @ 5500 rpm
Torque: 161 ft·lbf (218 N·m) @ 4500 rpm

K24A8 06/07 Accord
Power: 166 hp (124 kW) @ 6000 RPM
Torque: 160 ft·lbf @ 4250 rpm

I am thinking about Price to Horsepwer Ratio. I currently have a 160 hp (h23a1) of course. Please give me some Prices on the K24 series engines. I have no clue on what they cost (for complete Swap. Ie: Motor+tranny+ecu the works)

I know H22A is about $2000+ish complete swap.

Okay these are USDM k24 motors and should I Get one of these or a H22A?

Please give me some advice.

a k24 isnt as expensive as say a k20 is, but its still more than an h22. To swap a k into a prelude, you'd have to do all kinds of custom fabricating mounts, and a customer wiring harness. just swap the h22 and call it a day. you'll thank me later

just figure in price of engine + 2-3k.......just to be safe and to know you are doing it right.

if you can swallow that price.....by all means, go ahead

even the best k motor has little power advantage over the h22. as least not stock that is, wait a few more years after people start doing this swap, prices will go down, for now, go H22

What I am trying to figure out is why your in the prelude section of the forum and not the RSX section. They know more about k series than anyone would here. Another thing is as said before, it is a full custom job. I dont think they make k mounts for our preludes yet. Good luck

they don't and they probably never will. The demand for them just isn't high. Just think of all the man hours they would spend to design mounts, and then fab them up. The costs would outweigh the benfits tremendously. Its simple economics people.

well why stop there??? thats what everyone thinks, that preludes are like civics and can accept alot of engine swaps.

how many times have ppl asked

1. can i put a s2k motor in my prelude???
2. can i put a k-series motor in my prelude???
3. can i make my prelude rwd???

i've only seen 2,3 done ONCE each. everyone else just needs to realize the h22 is your best bet.

Yeah, I assume you've seen that Beetle with the airplane engine in the back of it. 100% street legal too since he drive it on the road with the normal engine in the front powering the front wheels. The plane engine powers the back ones.

What I don't understand is why does the OP want a motor that puts out less hp than the h22a and costs a couple thousand more. Also the aftermarket for the K24 is nowhere as big as the one for the K20.

Huge fan of the EuroR motor! Great power out of the box with LSD tranny and awesome gear ratios!
You can go a little CHEAP though:
JDM H22A $1100
US H23A1 trans $2-300
Just be sure you get a USDM P13 Ecu to avoid that nasty speed limiter.

Just be sure to stay away form the F series trannys with the awful gear ratios. May be great for boost but really really sucks for n/a. You could find people getting rid of them for free or $100 or so. Be sure to research your Trans Codes before buying something.

even though the k series motors, do have a bit more power stock, and react wayyy!!! better to boltons when it comes to preludes stick to the JDM H22a, its cheaper in price and a straight drop in other than having to wire vtec and the oil pressure switch. If you want more power, just get a Jd h22a and buy some h22 type s pistons and cams which will run from 500-700 dollars for both, which should give you at least a 10-20 more horse i think, but it will pul especially if you put all boltons

Never pull apart a nice shiney JDM H22 for a little compression bump like that.....

hasport developed a K swap kit for the CD chassis Accord. with modifications to these mounts you could get a set for a prelude. Then you can run into bonnet clearance issues, and then its kind of pointless to get anything less than the 2.3L.
in addition, it requires relocation of many smaller parts in the engine bay.
THEN... u get into electronics, and **** like throttle cable conversions.
it's way up there in difficulty, with a V6 swap.
