92 integra gsr ---> high idle (2000rpm) when I start the engine cold
*** Update: I cleaned the FITV and the IACV. It was the IACV. It was clogged and dirty. Now my idle problems are completely fixed and when i start the cold when its cold, it only goes to about 1200.
i got a 92 integra gsr. Lately the idle has been at 2000 rpm when i start the car and the engine is cold. when it warms up, its fine and drops back down. Is this normal? it never use to go this high, usually around 1400 rpm.
it doesnt fluctuate or anything, just sits at 2000.
is there something wrong?

my 95 ls has a similar problem, i never really thaught of it as a problem. i just got the car about a month ago though so i dont know.
same problem i have too. my brothers car (same make and model) doesn't do the same thing but mine idles at about 2k too.
if its has never done it before nor it fluctuates it could be the temperatures. Remember our aluminum blocks like to cool down real fast.
Now, if temperatures have not changed that much then, check out IAC Valve...also ..do not neglect the FIT valve under the throttle body. most people here neglect to clean it and makes them ask dumb questions. it causes a high idle etc...

if you have time, I would take the IAC motor off clean it, clean where it goes to the intake manifold, put it back on. Then take off the FITV like mentioned above, take it apart, very easy, then clean it very well, put it back together, put it back on, then clean the inside of the throttle body last, you do not have to take it off... Start the car let it run for a few minutes, then drive it around for a while..
If it goes away you have fixed your problem, if it doesn't you wont have to worry about doing any of this for a long time again.
