Agreed, buy a Miata: you will save a LOT of money that you can use learning to drive. An S2K on a track is not for the inexperienced, and definately not cheap.
A Miata is a great sports car, you can't go wrong.

Buy a Miata, run the Spec Miata cup and get raped, just like you would in any class race. Have fun!
Well... either that or buy a fast car and fly off the side of a mountain. 50% of the time, it works all the time.

That doesn't make any sense. Why would you get an S2000 if you're going to drive it like an Accord?
ekmos was, I believe, talking about in race/hard-driving situations. In which case, yes, it will be a handful for some kid with 1 year's of driving experience, NO track experience, and currently riding in a 100 HP automatic. Now you want to throw the same kid into a semi-quick RWD convertible with a hair-triggered snap oversteer?
Oh, can we count how many "I wrecked my S2000 because I shifted mid-turn during a rainstorm, blah blah blah" threads we've had? Yeah...
And about the Miata comment--I have never owned one, and probably never will, but as an auto enthusiast, I give respect where it's due. Those Miata's tear people UP on the tracks. (RWD, light-weight, easy/cheap upgrades, etc.) If you think they're all girly cars, visit your next SCCA event.
Touge -- Do yourself a favor and get a Civic Si or an EG/EK hatch to start out with. You will have plenty of fun in it, and might fit your current budget a lot better than an S2000.

you were stating a for sale post. You're delusional if you think otherwise. You're post has been edited. Final warning.
