Default Whats a good turbo for low 400's?

current setup: pusing 315whp with t04b 50 trim .48 a/r stage 2 wheel at 1 bar of boost 10:1 compression right now.

setup to achieve the goal: b series vtec 1.8 probably 9:1 compression. 3 dp to 2.5" exhaust, 38mm wastegate, 2.5" charge piping

goals:
1. I run inline pro manifold and i don't want to shave the block.
2. i'd like something that would reach 200wtq by 5k rpm or a bit before that.
3. i'd like to accomplish #2 without going to ball bearing - possible?

i don't care for oversized turbos i just want to get it right just for that powerband, where it would start to max out at 450-475whp. i know what i got can go even further just not a whole lot further maybe 350 before it starts producing too much heat.

thanks

you may could do that if you swapped your hotside out for a .63

hmm i don't know about all that.. that turbo is slighly larger than t3 super 60.. the smallest of t3/t4.. i don't want to push it to the max i want to be within efficiency range

to be more specific for people who dont know much about the gtseries..

GT3076R .63 AR hotside .... maxes at 480 with .63 hotside and will spool like crazy on that motor if u want a lil more hp get the .82AR will slow ur spool but bump it to 500-520 max hp

I was under the impression he doesnt want alot of HP, he wants a quick spooling and efficient turbo with a good power curve for the street.

The H-T bandwagon of huge turbos on street driven cars is getting old imo. I would say at most. A GT3076R .63 a/r is acceptable for this setup but the .82ar is too big for the setup, the ball bearing technology is great but get the turbo that supports your efficiency range.

I just dont understand why people get these turbos that are so far out of their efficiency range. If you want 400hp get a turbo that has the same efficiency range.

I agree, but some say get a bigger turbo because eventually you will want more power. But I agree with you^^^... some guys just go too big. Get a turbo that will fit your needs.

at my first post i didn't even consider ball bearing.. but now that i've looked through several dynos.. gt3076r seems decent w/ 200wtq at 4600-4700rpm but what i don't know if its ball bearing or not..

so would gt3076t till hit 200wtq mark before 5k rpm?

The GT3255E would be another turbo to consider....it is obviously less expensive because it isn't ball bearing, but dont let that fool you. The only downfall is that it is maxxed at about 420whp so if you're hoping to one day squeeze more out of it, you're going to have to go bigger.

The GT3076R is another really good option as a few guys before had mentioned. It will make a little more topend power than the other turbo i suggested.
