Which engine is best?
I just bought a 91 Civic DX with a blown engine
, and I would like to get some opinions as to which motor will bring this car back to life and run strong reliable
. I haven't worked on many hondas, and I have never done an engine swap before, so the easier the better. I am trying to get aquinted with all of the terminoligy, so try to give me advice in language I can understand untill I catch on.
Thanks in advance.

well since your car is a dx it is dpfi! since your motor Is blown there is no point staying with dp! I would suggest if you want a (strong) and reliable engine thats easy to install I would say a sohc zc or dohc zc! the motors are cheap and strong considering the average mileage!check out hmotorsonline.com!the good thing about the zc is you can use your original axles and tranny! all you have to do is run a few wires and get a resistor box for your fuel injectors! Oh and get a new ecu! either pm6 for sohc zc or I believe pm7 for dohc zc!
What other models of Hondas/Acuras could I find this engine. I would like to find a salvaged car to take it out of.
I know this I'm beating a dead horse and this topic comes up all the time, but I appreciate all the opinions I can get.
I have been looking for project for an everyday driver, that performs well in town, but can cruise at low rpm's on the highway. I want to go with a normally aspirated engine, with the usual modificatons(intake, headers, ignition). I may be dreaming here, but I would like to get something with 150+hp with a near stock engine. Hope this helps.

if you want 150 with near stock engine you would ether have to get DOHC ZC or B16 but B16 is much harder and take more money to swap in so your best bet could be the DOHC ZC
but you need all kinds of crap for the b16 swap! If you want an easy swap go dohc zc and with headers intake exhaust you should be up around 150! the dohc is cheap too!just make sure to maintain it right and youll have anice dd! IMO dohc zc

i dunno bout 150hp with a bolt on dohc zc...maybe 135hp, 140hp at the most....but an ls would really get u da power u want...just a bit more money....but its worth it, tons of aftermarket support, a lot more than the dohc zc...
i personally say b16a, i love my swap allthough ill say i paid a shop to put it in.
I LOVE what i got for the money, and love hearing that vtec kick in, your choice though man, hope all go's well with your decision.
Good Luck
