Default will an average installer install a OLD DEI alarm, and remote start???

my boss was cleaning out his desk at work, and found his ancient old DEI alarm, and remote start, he one day wanted to install into his pick up, but it just sat in his desk. he threw it out. so i hit him up, if i could have it.. he didn't care.

the receipt in the box dates back to 94! hahaha

my question.

i have my 2007 Element EX, and now have this Python "system 70" alarm, and the DEI, "551t" remote start device.

are these OLD outdated alarms not worth the hassle of installing, or will most stereo installers turn my business away? (i understand its old, but im willing to pay to have this old **** which is physically new, lol, installed into my car)

got your pm were are you located? Most installers will do what ever it takes to do the job. Now there not going to warrenty the unit. If its new in the box I don't see why nobody won't install it.

A new system.

I would have no problem at all installing it at our shop, kind of a long way for you.

Ask around, find a shop that has a good rep, check out some of their work, be prepared to pay to have it done right, stay away from any shop that says they can do it for $100 and it will take less then 4 hours.

We would still give lifetime warranty on the install, [not the system] any good shop will, they will also solder every connection, remove unused wires, [depin] and hide components and wiring as well as can be done without pulling more things apart then need to be, [consoles, instrument cluster, trim panels, or dash] and charge about $200 for a basic install, but can charge much more then that, depending on how many options, [back up batt., tilt sensor, other sensors and modules] you want wired, and to what degree of stealth you want to go. 94

i appreciate the feed back.

i hate main stream shops that just blow out work, left and right, and thrive for proffit. and for some reason, my poverty stricken county is filled with them. so thats why im having a hard time finding someone to install my goods.

i realize my equipment is old.. over 10 years old. but its still new, and in new working condition, so my only defense to that is, everytime an alarm goes off.. no one cares. so you can have a $500 up to date alarm, or a old crappy alarm like my free one.. cuz i mainly want to utilize my remote start.

so after talking to WRX guy, knowing someone of someone helps out. i might have him do the install personally at his house or something.

im not interested in the ultimate alarm.. back up batteries, anti tilt.. ****, they can have it. its a stock car. but i mainly want remote entry, and remote start. lol

I get how you feel about mainstream shops, but on the other hand, I can't say anything good about mom and pop shops. It's hard to generalize them, but usually, they're self-taught. They get your money and they never want to see you again. At least at a mainstream shop you can talk to a manager and bitch them out. Lifetime warranty... you can take it to a different location etc.

It all comes down to the installer. If you can find a mainstream shop where all the installers are old veterans, then you're golden. Go to a brand new shop and you're SOL. Although I work in a brand new mainstream shop...

If you are comfortable with 12 volt, know how to solder, and have some basic tools and the time, it's not that hard to install the system. 94

Feel free to IM me and I will walk you through the install.
