Reasons I keep breaking my clutch?
I just blew another clutch today on my beater car, a '96 Maxima. About 1 year ago I had my 3rd OEM clutch installed. I drove maybe 30k miles since then, of which less than 7500 must have been "city" driving. I really didn't beat the clutch. Maybe less than 15 times have I launched "hard".
I'm wondering, in general (not really Acura specific), are there reasons why a clutch fries so fast? Could bad tranny parts be a part of the problem (i.e. bad gears or seals or something)? I'm not too technically inclined, so I don't know what specific types of questions to ask, but I would really like to know if there are other parts of the tranny that I should inspect while getting the new clutch installed so I don't fry the new one. Or is frying a clutch mostly due to driving style/abuse?
Would a detailed description of my driving habits help?
I hope I'm making sense to someone out there!
