refrigerant question
my air conditioner stopped blowing cold so i bought some 134a refrigerant and i want to ask how do i put it in, this is kind of a stupid question but i dont know **** about a/c's. please help.
save yourself a headache and have a professional do it for you.... overcharging your system can lead to failure and or loss of cooling performance as the system cycles on and off due to high pressure cut out.

You need to do a R134A retrofit before you can put that R134A refrigerant.
I don't think you are equipped to do that.

If the valve on the charge hose fits, it has been retrofitted. If it is not, then it will not. Retrofit involves removing all of the R-12 with a recovery machine (or releasing it and making an ozone hole), replacing the dryer, vacuuming the system to remove the moisture, and charging with a POE oil charge and 80% (of the factory R-12 charge in lbs) of R-134a. You MUST add POE oil or the compressor will fail because R-134a will not carry the mineral oil in a R-12 system, and PAG oil (the factory R-134a type oil) does not get along with R-12 retrofits.
