chipped ecu and ticking sound?
running a chipped ecu on a stock engine hurt the motor? when i take my car into the higher rpms i hear alot ticking noises from the engine. when i drive normal it sounds ok. would could it be?
Also, what's the chip? Ebay special or a real chipped ecu? What's the tune for on the chip and what are you not running that the chip is setup for?

but yes, driving a car with a tune that it isin't setup for via the chip is BAD

yea cuz i have a chipped p72 ecu laying around i was gonna test it but i was afraid to. gsr redline is around 8000rpm. when i take it to 7k i hear alot ticking. do i need to rebuild my internals? motor has 215,xxx miles still runs strong but dont like the ticking sound.

sounds like your valves need to be adjusted. I wouldn't recommend running a chipped ecu on a stock motor, unless you have it tuned....but you're probably better off running the stock ecu in your situation.
i dont know what chip it is cuz it came with the civic i bought from a friend a long time ago. all i know is that it was used with a poor man's type r engine.
