Confessions of a ricer
While I was searching for pictures of my rims that did not involve a multi-colored car and unpainted body kit, I realized something. Looking at the pictures I have of my car from a year ago, I realized that I liked my car a lot better pre-body kit. Tastes change with time, I guess, and I'm slowly but surely moving out of my "ricer" phase.
I think my biggest mistake was being sucked into the body kits craze in the first place. I'll admit, I think, it all started with the Fast & the Furious movies. The beautifully-kitted cars and their bright neon lighting caught me spellbound; it completely ensnared me and drew me in. While some may be embarrassed to admit to having seen the F&tF movies, I am not. If it weren't for the original Fast & the Furious, I probably wouldn't have ever gotten into cars. I was twelve when I first saw the Fast & the Furious; now I'm seventeen. I was once into making a car look good and draw crowds, I think I'm starting to realize that the crowd a body kit draws is not the crowd I want around my car. I want the kind of crowd that a blow off valve or a supercharger whistle brings in.
So after finding pictures to use for the "***OFFICIAL*** Wheel Picture Thread" on HondaCivicForum.com, I did some thinking. I realized that I did, in fact, like how the stock body stlying looked. I guess I'd never actually seen the beauty in a stock Honda before. I guess I always thought "Why isn't it lower" and "Why doesn't it have a bigger air dam" when I looked at it. I guess I never really took into consideration what I could buy with the money I spent in body modifications.
I have no regrets in what I've done to my car; I loved the way my car looked with it's kit, but there's a "d" on "loved" for a reason. The body kit is currently off my car, and it's going to stay that way. When spring comes around, I'm going to remove the dual exhaust system that was custom-bent to fit my Black Widow rear bumper. I'm also in the process of changing my interior's color scheme from it's previous black/blue/light gray/dark gray scheme to a simple black/silver. I know this will take time and money, but I think I'll like it a lot better. After all, tastes change with time, and I no longer like the body kit that I once fawned over.
I'm not saying I don't still like body kits, and I'm not saying I don't respect people with body kits. I'm simply saying that I think I need to sit down and seriously consider where I want to go with my car.
Remember: it's not what others think of your ride, it's what you think of it. Back when I first got into cars, that was my mentality. Over the course of a few years, I've slowly and steadily forgotten that mentality. I know it won't happen overnight, but I'm going to try my hardest to reclaim that state of mind.

it's the Honda Civic/Del Sol (1992 - 2000) model specific forum... I see nothing about needing tech. And since my car is a 1994 Honda Civic EX (Sorry, I think I failed to mention that in my post, but my avatar should have tipped you off lol), I felt it pertained to this forum.

Hence the fake BOV noise makers on ebay...

Good to hear, one less ricer on the streets.

Speaking of the evos I was talking with a friend of mine last night (who's heavily into Nissans) and he was telling me that the Evo X has paddle shifters
. I didn't even know they made the X yet but if it does have paddle shifters they officially killed that car
.
As for the 3rd F&F.
Besides the black guy I went there with, the WHOLE ENTIRE TIME I was in Japan...I saw TWO black guys. One was on a subway, suit - etc. Looked like he was just in town on business. The other was some old *** crazy, drunk Jamaican that I'm not even sure was 100% black who was trying to sell us some "good ****" on a Tokyo street. So I can tell you first hand that him being in that movie w/ all that was a lil skewed

First of all, a short statement about why you're here:
You're here to learn. You're here to help. You're here to share knowledge and information. If you are here for any other reason, just leave now.
Things that won't be tolerated:
> Excessive flaming
> Posts with no techincal content
> eBay Ads
> Classifieds ads
> Picture threads
> "I got scammed by..." threads
> Bench racing
> Links to Helms/Chiltons manuals. Go buy them. http://www.helminc.com
> "Search n00b." If you tell someone to search, you had better provide them with a helpful link. This explains how to use the search function: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=979961
Things you can do to help:
> Search before you post
> If you make a post and are not 100% sure about the information, please say so. It's frustrating to be told one thing, then find it to be completely different once you are in the middle of a project.
> Police yourselves. Report a thread if it's turning into a huge flame fest, or if it's clear that there is misinformation or the thread is clearly in violation of the 92-00 Civic guidelines. The moderators are human and can't be here all day every day.
FYI - The report post button is right below the posters name and looks like this:

Eran, there's something called a double standard, which you pull a lot.
If you're going to harass this guy for no tech.
What about this guy?

I wouldn't have even reported this had someone not been an asshat and pulled the "It doesn't say in the rules that I have to post tech" shtick. I didn't even bother to read this thread.

Oh, I see, well I didn't read any of the responses (as usual) 'cept the one I quoted so I didn't see that.
Though yeah, you're right, it does say it in the rules, the only reason that putz never heard of it is because that's total proof that he skipped over the rules
. Which is possibly why the forum is the way it is.

well, regardless of the rules, i'm glad to hear that a young guy into Hondas is starting to see the light. good call on de-ricing, although you should proably have posted this in the A/C foum instead.
