98 Accord Auto Tranny Trouble
Well, took it for a drive this morning like normal. On the way home as I pull into the driveway and come to a stop the car jerks than stops and the check engine light comes on. I pull the code. It is a Code 70, Automatic Transaxle Malfunction. Well I pull it into the garage, check the fluid, little low nothing detremental, but noticing it smells a bit on the used side (Been a little while since it was changed) I put it up on jacks and drain it. I fill it back up with the proper fluid and take it out for a spin. It is jerking, and slipping pretty badly. I than put in some Lucas Tranny Fix to give it a shot. Still doing it, just not as badly. I check the Cable Adjustment, that is fine. So now I am here.
Now aside from getting a rebuilt transmission, is there anything else I can check? The Haynes and Chiltons say to head straight to a professional.
I will await my answer as I enjoy my Fruity Pebbles and Corona. Thanks in advance.

There are actually several codes that will show up as a code 70 when you pull the code using the jumper wire method. You'll need to pull the code using a scanner to know what the real code is.

get it replaced or rebuilt, and I would put my vote on replaced........you gave several indications of HARD failure internal to the unit.
Jerks at low speeds
slipping.
usually electronics failure result in no shift into a gear or gears, TQ converter does not lock unlock, etc

First and foremose, never use anything except honda atf z1 in the f23 auto tranny. Mine went out to mechanical failure all of the sudden also, but it was replaced under warranty. As soon as this one goes (which is almost guaranteed) I'll either swap for a stick or see if I can use the f22 auto tranny
Don't know where to get one but I believe they are ~ 1500 -2000 bucks for new ones. I know the f22 tranny will bolt up but Ive never seen anyone do it, so Im trying to find out some info on that because the f23 was flawed by design and the f22s hold up better. And to top it off they're cheaper, so Id look into that as an option if you find a shop that can get you either tranny. Good luck

have the same problem on my 98 accord V6, now my reverse wont go in, it grinds badly, im thinking of replacing it or rebulding it, is there anyway i can swap a 5 speed in it, even do its v6?
I didn't think so. Now who carries transmissions? Can I bring it to Aamco? Is there somewhere online? I can't have this car down to long, I already have enough projects...
