Hey,
I fixed a leak on the back tail-lamps of my 96 Civic hatch on the weekend. I also noticed that the carpet was damp under the floormats on the driver and passenger side.
I removed the seats and lifted the carpet up. The insulation on the underside of the firewall is also damp until about halfway up. There are no holes in the floor board and I couldn't feel any holes behind the firewall mat.
I washed the car, spraying down by the wipers, and also underneath the car just behind the tires...yet there appeared to be no water coming in that I could find.
I didn't think it would be rain, because the floor mats are dry, yet the carpet underneath them is wet. The bottom on the mats are rubber, so it's not like the water would seep through them.
Any ideas? (thanks)

on my fiancee's car the windshield was replaced recently and they didn't do a good job of sealing it so it leaked and made the passenger side floor mat damp. if u look at the area above where the ecu is mounted it will be rusty if it was leaking from the windshield. also if the drain for your a/c is disconnected it can cause some puddles in your car as well.
Sorry that I can't answer your question but can I ask you how you fixed the leak in the hatch? Did you just replace or fix the gasketing on the tailights? If so, what did you use exactly?
TIA!

I had an a/c in my car. The little box under the passnger dash was missing the tube that drains the excess condisation outside of the car. So it leaked and leaked, till I could smell mildu (sp). I went to HomeDepot and for .50 bought clear piping and put one there. And then lived for one week of my car smelling bad.
note, bought smelly tree and that carpet smell remover to help

I see....I'll check that out...
I fixed the taillamp leak but applying some weather sealant on the foamy gasket thing..around it's edge. I also put some on the screws so it wouldn't leak there!
