Ok, so we bought a del sol with a JDM engine swapped in, the guy who did it shipped the whole assembly, engine, head, tranny, ECU together from Japan. Its a JDM h22a motor, with a P13 head and a P13 ECU, not sure what the trans is but I coudl find out. It consistently pulls codes 8 and 12: Top Dead Center and EGR respectively. They never clear (if you disconnect the batt, they come back immediately), the Check engine light is not always on, but the codes are always stored.

Lastly, there is an idle issue, where you get erratic idle at times, also not consistent. I can't find any vacuum leaks, but they could be there. Basically it never dies, but does idle down low and come back up to regular idle speed, but never goes high. It doesn't go away if you rev it and let it settle down, it seems to be totally random. Could this be related to the other issues?
