Default hondata+12:1CR+91 octane???

ok i have searched, gotten close to what I have been looking for but nothing exact. this jalopy of a motor me and my friend are playing around with will be around 12:1 compression. most of the hondata post i see are usually regarding forced induction, and more tolerable CR's.

im curious if any of you out there are running lofty compression such as this on the street with pump gas?? currently whats in store will be p28 computer, maybe a type R or good aftermarket intank, adj fpr, and maybe 310cc injectors if i did need them.

this would all be on 91 octane. im thinking if hondata has the posibility to fuel moderately high boost applications on the street/pump gas, then my wishes shall be granted. with the funds, it looks like stage 2 and some dyno tuning is the answer. let me know what people who have used/have experience with hondata think. im not looking for he said she said.

thanks for the help.

I have 2 engines (daily driven) on pump gas. One is a 12.3/1 lsvtec and the other is a 12/1 h22a. So far there hasen't been any major issues with detonation. I also use modified ECU's. The lsvtec has a locash ecu and the h22a has just a removed rev limit. Timing is stock, however as the temp here In Tucson goes up (summer months) I usually have to retard the timing a bit or run a mix of 100/91 octanes. I realize you were asking about the honddata set-up, but I thought this may be benificial as well.

Its more dependent on how efficiently built your block is, pistons cant have sharp edges, head chamber also, colder plugs, excessive fuel ... IOW playing iwth fire with that low gas, 93/94 is safe, 91 is really lucky.

Yeah, 91 is about all we can get here. There is a couple of places to get race gas of course, but 100 is available at the pump for $4.00+/gallon. This isn't realistic to use all the time, plus it is hard on o2 sensors. I usually mix the fuels for track use and for daily driving we just stick with 91. (sometimes my girlfriend puts in an octane booster of some sort) Her car is the lsvtec.

This is absolutely true. When I built the engines, I hand sanded all of the sharp edges on the pistons and the combustion chanbers. The locash ecu (mugen copy) does run rich so this helps "cool" the mix. We use stock NGK plugs, but running a colder temp make sense as well. Also, cams can affect compression as well, so this has been factored in as well. Longer duration (more overlap) cams can usually compensate for higher compression ratios.
