Keepin the SOHC VTEC
Now i have a 95 ex coupe with 109000 miles on it and she pulls pretty good with just an AEM CAI. Now i love my engine and i would love to be an underated small dog and keep my engine considering i have virtually nowhere near the amount required for the b16a2 for my car. Now if i was to do i/h/e/i mani/cam/cam gear/vafc/ and a basic fuel and ignition system with a good clutch and decent lsd could i hit 14's with slicks? Now my second question is how long will the engine last after this? Theoretically if i was to take the procedure a step farther and do a full rebuild consisiting of pistons, rings etc. I would love it but whats the life span expected if everything done right. I need the car/tranny to last roughly another 2-3 years for me! Any help would be kindly appreciated by anyone Thank you, Chris
After you bought all of that stuff, you would probably have enough for a b16. If I were you I would buy a turbo kit or wait and get a b16.
It is possible to hit 14s but you probably won't get much faster than that. I have the d16z6 too and it's stock. I am saving for a swap...it'd be a little more reliable than turbo

i think it is possible to hit 14's with the setup u listed. there is a guy called mistabone on the board he hit 14's on slicks with just the basic bolt ons. hit him up he has alot of info on tuning the d-series.
you can go low 14's with just bolt ons and a shot of gas in trunk(nos) i have done it, but the best way would be to just buy a turbo kit.

i know turbocx but i need something reliable thats all. I like no i LOVE the D series motor because if i blow my engine i can buy a whole used one again for like 300 bucks including tranny! BY the way how strong are our trannys turbo cX? And what axles are you using for your ride?

you can easily build a reliable sohc turbo setup, just like you can a dohc setup.......
the d series trannys are ok, you just CANNOT force them into gear or make real HARD downshifts.. the only thing that seems to be a common failure on these setups are the shift forks in the tranny, they either bend or they sna off inside.
