Default LS/V-TEC W/ OF W/OUT BLOCK GUARD

Alright so I have been searching around to buy a block guard for my setup and I have also read u on it and all I have been able to find is opinion and i know thats all i am going to get from this post but what have you guys experiences with these things I have been told about the sleeves expanding from heat and cracking becuase there is no where to go and also i hear they create hot spots and then sleeves tend to crack also. THen on the other side I have heard great stories about them. Now my setup is a b18a1 bottom end A0 type-r pistons (mld bottem end build all with ARP fasteners) head is build from DH-Racing so what do you guys think i should do the bottem end is assembled would it be a bad thing to install one at this point now that the bottom end is built or no? Let me know thanks guys

You have to bore and hone after you install the block guard. It will distort the bores.

not worth the effort on a NA motor.

You would do better getting a block girdle.

kms development...look on ebay for them or you can use a stock GSR block girdle..but your going to need GSR main studs and the main caps if you use the GSR girdle..

if you get the KMS developement girdle..I believe all you need is the GSR main studs and not the main caps also....

if you have the cash, a block guard wouldnt hurt if installed right.

you will also need an itr/gsr oil pick up, windage try, and oil pan.

Don't forget to have the main bores align honed after installing the girdle too. They also get distorted with arp mainstuds.

Just noticed that picture is from Endyn's "how to build a 2Liter Honda" tutorial. He used new OEM main bolts for the build and apparently Mr. Widmer has a habit of turning motors very high. If that tells you anything.

Sometimes you can find OEM gsr girdles on ebay for around $50-60 shipped.
