Default Need Help with keys

I got one key for my rex to open my doors and I've been trying to get a copy but the copies i have gotten from a couple of places (wal-mart, home depot) dont work. The keys seem longer and go in halfway which wont turn . I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and where do you guys get your keys done. The brand on the key I have is ILCO.

what you can do is take 1 of your locks off take it to a locksmith have them look at the numbers on the lock and have them make you a key

take it to honda. i did that last month to get a duplicate key made. FYI, the new key blanks are a little longer then the regular keys and will stick out a little, but that is normal. it will also have the stock honda plastic key cover on it. do bring registration to show that the car is yours.

why? I just took the lock from my trunk (which I did in the parking lot of the locksmith) took less then 5 min! and the lock place was closer than driving to the dealer

also what if the locks were changed? then that puts you **** out of luck with the whole going to the dealer crap

Hamstr323 I agree with you but sometimes you have to remember not all people that post on this web site are as mechanically inclined as others are . I guess the correct thing would be to ask Egonamikal88 if all the lock cylinders on the car worked with the same key and is it just the drivers door lock that is giving him a problem with the new ILCO key he's had cut a few times . If all the locks work with the same original key to the car it could be a few things wrong . 1 it could be that the key that was cut recently is a copy of a copy of a copy and now the key wont work anymore so he would have to get the key cut by the Vin# for it to work properly again . 2 it could be that the tumblers in the lock cylinder or worn down becuase of age or something could be boogered up in the lock cylinder were he would have to get another door lock cylinder and have a lock smith or someone at the dealership to re key a new lock cylinder to the original key for him or her

So as a reminder to those of us asking questions and those of us trying to answer others questions It helps to have all the information we can give or get to fix our lil Civics
