Short Ram higher speeds in Gears
okay i just noticed today after i put my short ram bak in that now when i shift every gear it has gained more speed on the speedometer..i only notice in third since i fly through the first two...third with the stock hits about 80mph..only...while the short ram takes it over 85mph clost to 87-89..can my car not be getting enough air???or is it perfectly normal??thanks for any help
i wouldnt say that but it has been able to give me higher mphs on the speedmeter..which i cant to understand also...is it a bad thing or a good thing that im able to gain more mphs on a AEM short ram with an filter of no name??but is it good for me or not...i just need any pros or cons that anyone will be able to give...
That means you are revving your engine higher than normal...that is all. That's the only way to go faster on a certain gear.

Yeah... It's a completely overwhelming feeling...

^^Yea... You only go so fast in a gear, it's the other add-ons/modifications that help determine HOW FAST you get to that speed.
Gearing gives you top speed & acceleration. You can't have both to max. You sacrifice top speed for faster acceleration, to that top speed.. That's just how it works..
Shorter Gearing = Faster Acceleration = Lower Top Speed
Longer Gearing = Higher Top Speed = Slower Acceleration
I don't know if external forces will cause you to faster in a gear or not, ie driving down a hill = cause you to go faster in a gear, or if the gear will prevent you from going faster than it's limit. Someone else might could answer that one..

i mean im not revving higher etc...and ive had other modifications done but since my cars been down to many times i put it back to stock and now that i put back my short ram i just noticed the difference that im going at a higher mph then that of a stock form...maybe im just thinking about to much...but im just wondering so that i know my car is getting enough air...cause i dont want to be not giving my car enough air...that of which might then cause me to have a motor problem...which i think ive had before when i bent my valves..so having higher mph a good thing or bad thing..enough air not enough air???

just stop thinking about it, nothing your saying is making any sense. Just drive it and have fun.

Seriously.. How would you be going faster if your engine wasn't getting enough air?? That doesn't make sense... The engine needs air to work, how would it work if it wasn't getting enough? And how would switching from the stock air intake to a SRI cause you not to get enough air? Unless the pipe was blocked/clogged inside or something.. Then you would be going slower or going no where since you wouldn't be getting air... There's thousands upon thousands of people that have SRI, trust me, they are getting enough air...

Your not going in faster man sorry, it just sounds better. </TD></TR></TABLE>
uh...i know that very well..its just i dont wanna bust up my motor..
