Knocking.... i know there is alot of these so links anything are fine
ok i searched and didnt find alot to help. i sold my d16a6 to a guy on here and it ran perfect for me. now that he installed it it has a knocking. how could this happen? he said it is a rod knock. it does it under load and at idle but he said it doesnt do it above idle in neutral. WTF could this be? he said when it started it was a "dry start" with oil just sitting. could this have been the reason it happend? i never had any knocking at all when i had the motor. thank you in advance... like i said links, comments anything will help. if u hate on this thread that is fine to i love getting free bumps

rod knock probably wont be a dry start problem, it happens over time as clearances change. Is he putting in the right octane of fuel?
i dont know he just called me and said his friend said the rod bearing is spun or something. the motor sat for like 4 months after i ran it. it ran great for me tho. he is coming by tomaro for me to listen to it. could it be possible that its just making a noise cuz it hasent been run in awhile?

what questions should i ask him when he comes by tomaro? like when his buddy installed it what could he have done wrong. he is saying it sounds liek its knocking everywhere when he drives it. i really dont have the money to give back to him so yeah any help would be great. thank you everyone

i also offered to pay half the cost to have it looked at by a mechanic but he doesnt feel he should waste his money on it =/

Whoever installed it should be held responsible for whatever is wrong with it if it ran great when you had it
Or if anything just get the motor back from the guy and sell it to someone else, if you know theres nothing wrong with it and you have not heard it your self since the install. Likely the guy knows nothing about engines and is hearing a knocking thats suppose to be there
I used to think my engine knocked and I got it looked at and its fine, no problems, nothing. Anyways good luck

thank you so much. yeah im going to hear it tomaro. it its truly nothing im just going to say he needs to live with it. if i take it back and something is wrong with it im going to part it out. i will never sell anyone with something wrong with it. i couldnt do it. thats y i told him if its blown i would give his money back. i didnt dream something was wrong with it cuz it ran great for me
how long did he has the engine? First, it was not install by professional, second he might installed it and race the shiet out of it or doing dumb *** donuts, broke it then blame on u (you can tell this by he doesnt want to go to mechanic shop)
anyway, a 15+ year old car makes a lot of knocking noises so u gotta hear it and narrow down where is it come form... just wait for him
