Default Buying Civic hatchback 93-00

Trying to buy civic hatchback 93-00. Friend suggest get one then get an engine swap with an integra type-R? Any of you experienced with buying used cars and engines got any good used car websites and a reliable place to get an engine for my civic. Trying not to spend much. Not more than 5-7g? Any tips when buying both would be cool.

i'd start with buying a fully stock or semi stock EG 92-95 or 99-00 ek hatch. that should run you at least 3-5gs depending on your luck. Then use the rest to swap it or do suspension work

they're out there. I spent 5 months to find my hatch. Glad I did.

Autotrader is great, search withing 300 miles of you. If it's worth getting, it's worth driving a few hours for.

I'll never buy a modified car again. Never pick up someone elses project.

Buy a stock car with the lowest miles you can find, unless you plan on swapping it.

If you are, buy whatever as long as the body and interior are nice.

If I wanted to do it all over again, i would have bought a car with super high miles, good body and interior. Then, I'd throw in an LS motor because It's affordable and relatively easy.

I agree with this. Plus you have the pride of telling people that its your work not someone elses.

x3

I just traded my project for a "stock integra" and 3 months later I need a head gasket because who knows whats really been done... huge questions on the real history of the engine it has right now.... the only good thing is that the body and interior are clean.

figure out exactly what you can afford and want, then take the time to find the right car.

I was only looking for my car for about a month but i got lucky... and i bought a shell because it was cheaper in the long run because i was gonna swap...but i would rec. you don't buy a shell because then you don't have a motor to turn back to if you fry your swap.. (unless you go h22 like me.. then your screwed if you blow your motor and don't have money to fix it, knock on wood )

Did you guys see one for sale or is he just saying "get a type-r engine in one"?

Buy one with a jet engine. You'll have about the same probability finding one as finding a type-r. Not saying a good handfull of people don't have the b18c5, but i doubt you'll find one in your price range, in general area, being sold, in decent shape..

naw'saying? buy a completely stock, high mileage one, and swap!
