Default Need help reading the degrees on the JG engine dynamics gears

I recently picked these up from my buddie on here and I'm just trying to figure out what markings on these cam gears represent degrees

Seeing as 0 is the taller line, would the following 2 taller lines on each side be the 1 degree marks?(#1)
...or are the degree markings the smaller thinner lines in-between the taller ones(#2)?

i know i know...n00b but I can't think that the smaller lines would be degree markings.

Also would anybody ever need more then +2 or -2 degrees to do tuning? are these gears fairly sufficient?

each hash mark represents 1 degree. the bigger lines are 5 degrees. you have 10 degrees each side for adjustment.

each line also represents a valve and piston moving +/_ up to .030" closer or farther from occupying the same space at the same time, so tread very lightly.. one mark at a time.

(those arent degree's, theyre marks. in my experience, rarely do cam gear marks actually correlate to crank degrees as they're supposed to.)

thanks guys

this helped explain it.
dam they made the timing marks so small, its gonna be impossible to use these when tunning cam gears lol
