Default I just realized something about running cai's on 4th gens...

There really isn't a whole lot of fresh air being introduced to the filter. So, I'm thinking about makeing a velocity stack of sort and then just using some exhaust bends to run it into the chamber where the filter is. I'd like to make it the same shape of that plastic fog lite filler because true velocity stacks are a little too big imo to have it sticking out the front. Am I just missing where the air goes in or am i right?

cut this out

and then run the tubing through here where you turn signal wires run after opening up the hole a bit

your splash guard lets enough air get down there. Its the fact the filter is AWAY from the primary heat source. Thats why it is defined as a CAI....it is not a Ram Air, or out in the open elements.

If you want a ram style to cram Cold Air in there get something fabed up to replace your splash guard and have it point directly at your filter forcing air into it. Thats about the easiest way I can think of to tell you what would work.

your idea is good, and its been thought of before though

plus its not going to give you any more performace than you already got

if you wanted true ram air, then you would have to cut open your hood and place it right near the IM (which ours aren't really made to do this anyways)

Bah! Check out what @ries has done.. I'm trying to remember where I say it, but he's got a custom piece for his intake going through his turn signals. I'll try and find it..

I really won't make a big difference. I have the OEM foggies in the spot you showed so I couldn't do that. But seriously it's not really worth the trouble, it will never be a ram air. I mean you might as well get a ebay front mount intake.

serious or was that sarcasm?

The way ram air works doesn't involve a long tube far away from the IM.
This doesn't increase VE in any way and temperature wise, probably not much either.

so yeah, it won't be beneficial other than custom props.

No need to fabricate, just remove the outer bumper light like so

you guys are doing it the hard and expensive way

heres how i did it over 5 years ago...
only it was with a short ram

but same concept...
instead of making an opening in the front where its visible....make one underneath where noone can see it

cut a hole in the bottom part of the spash sheild and find something to make some kind of scoop to direct air up into the filter

of course you dont need the dryer hose if you have a cold air intake..

cheers...
