B16 swap--ITR clutch or ACT clutch??
Ok. First, does the ITR clutch work on the B16 (1st gen)? I've yeard yes, but I'm not sure.
Second, would it be just as good to get the ITR clutch or is the ACT way better. I'm a bit low on funds, but I want to make sure I get a new clutch when my swap is done. Some help please. Also does anyone know what else I should replace when I get this done?
Thanks.

go to clutchcityonline.com -- they have Exedy street clutches for $270 shipped, includes disc, pressure plate, throwout and pilot bearings, and alignment tool. these clutches can easily handle 250 hp at the wheels.
Sounds good, but can anyone answer my initial question? Does the Integra Type-R clutch fit on the 1st gen B16?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Would I benefit from using the ITR pressure plate with a new b16 clutch? Would that be like using an aftermarket pressure plate?
Please help me with this.

i doubt that using the ITR pressure plate with a B16 disc is going to be what you are looking for. even a stage 1 (?) entry level ACT is a better way to go, i am told. but i am told a lot of things. that's why i am buying Exedy.

Well I guess there isn't a way around getting an aftermarket clutch. Specially since I wanted the performance but didn't want to pay the price tag. Well I guess I'll squeeze out the money for a aftermarket clutch, and just leave my walet stock.
Thanks for the info guys.

as far as I know you can only use the pressure plate from the ITR and NOT the clutch disk as the ITR has a larger input shaft.

So you have a ITR PP and a B16 stock disk, right? Does the clutch slip at all? How much power are you putting down?
Thanks.

Hey B16_ef, I would love to get your clutch, but I'm really pressed for funds because of the engine swap. Besides, I'm going to be stock for a while and I'm trying to find something that is good when you don't have a lot of power to the wheels yet.
Thanks.
Thanks.
okay my friend is running his B18a with a ITR flywheel and PP, Grabing it all with a ACT stage 3 disk. IT works perfect and grabs very hard.
On my B16A all I have is a ACT street Stage 3 disk and it grabs good enough for me.

Exedy sucks?! ok, you just lost all your credibility for recommending that clutchmasters garbage over Exedy. remember: exedy is organic, far better than clutchmasters. that guy does have a deal for you: flywheel and clutch, unfortunately, the clutchmasters flywheel is a joke compared to the Toda 8.5 pound.
his $600 is a good deal, however, i laugh at that because anyone can get the exedy clutch for $270, and i can get the toda flywheel for $400, that's $70 more to get a real setup that would rev faster than the clutchmasters stuff in the first place.

hehe.. i know.. just that i get this for cheap... so it's just that i sell to make profit.. exedy does suck.. from experience.. doesn't grab hard.. clutchmasters is organic also.. stage 1.. stage 3 is carbon kevler.. even better.. i can sell the flywheel for cheaper but wheres my profit? hehe.. so you kow.. 600shipped
I have some actual hands on experience on this subject.
First as already stated here, you can use the Type R pressure plate on the cable tranny, but you cannot use the Type R clutch disk on the Cable tranny. As a side
my friend did exactly as you asked.
He is now getting a full clutch kit after 9,000 miles because his OEM ITR clutch is slipping.
I have a ACT clutch on my CRX and have had no problem with it.
182 HP at the wheels nad no slippage.
You HAVE to break it in though, for the first 500 miles of CITY driving you cannot race.
Good luck

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll go with ACT since I had one in my other car and it worked great.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
