I Need Help With My Turbo Setup
Alright Guys I am going to try this one more time. Hopefully this time I will get some repsonses. Ok I have finaaly got my turbo kit that I have been puttin off getting for a long time. I have a 98 Integra B18B1 and I plan on getting 300 horses out of it max. I really want 300 and then I really want to keep my car a daily driver. Right now the Motor has 142,000 miles on it. I have yet to do a compression/leakdown test. My questions are if my compression/leakdow tests comes back with good numbers would you guys just slap the turbo on and get it tuned? If it comes back bad I know that I will be changing all the internals and I will be getting headwork done to it. Another question I have is do you think that this turbo is good enough to supprt up to 300 horses? Anyone who's had any experience with the Borg Warner GM-1 feedback would be great. Another question is I have been looking at manifolds and I really dont know whether I should get a ramhorn or a log style manifold. And my last question is I know I would need a downpipe, but whats a charge pipe and dumptube for? Any other tubes that I will need for my setup would be great if I am forgetting anything. Also I see alot of guys saying they run open downpipe by that what do they mean. I am a NOOB when it comes to boosting I know a little bit about it but not much. Please guys Creative critiscm would be great just dont roast me too bad lol. Please if you view thi please write something because I REALLY NEED HELP
grasshopper, you have much to learn and search.
Seems like you'd like a reliable measure of boost. If I were you, I'd invest in a turbo kit. Meaning everything is bolt on for the most part. A greddy kit is good but a drag kit is better. You can find them used for a good price. I'm a noob at turbo's and engine builds myself but I've managed to build a motor by researching old threads on HT. You can do the same.
If a custom built turbo is what you desire, then so be it. But you'll run into many problems as your not educated enough to do so.
Bottem line, get a prebuilt pre fitted turbo kit and learn from there. Good luck to you and your research.
